Legislative elections were held in the German Democratic Republic on 19 October 1950. They were the first held since the founding of the country on 7 October 1949. There were 466 deputies to the Volkskammer (66 from East Berlin who were not directly elected) in total. All were candidates of the single-list National Front. Out of 12,325,186 registered electors, 12,139,932 (98.53%) voted, with 12,088,745 (99.72%) voting for Front candidates and 35,544 (0.28%) voting against them. 51,187 votes were declared invalid.
